The Origins of Acne Care

by Grace Empson

Acne. Pimples. Zits. "Complexion Blemishes"

Whatever you call it, acne can be a frustrating problem. Acne can be viewed as a nuisance or rite of passage, but having acne scars can contribute to depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. Now, there are very efficient therapies for acne skin care so there is no need to suffer.

Who Needs to Worry About Acne Skin Care?

Most of us will have acne scars before we reach our 30's. Male hormones named androgens cause an increase in oil production in the pores of the skin, especially on the face, chest and back. Both males and females synthesize androgens, but men produce higher levels of this "male" hormone. This is the reason that males need a more intense acne skin care. Women, however, may notice that during their period they need a stronger skin care treatment. This condition is caused by the hormones that produce the menstrual cycle. Both pre-teens and adults may need acne skin care. Some people may even require adult acne treatment even though they haven't experienced strong acne breakouts during their teenage years.

Cause Of Acne Blemishes

The need for proper acne care is caused by three of the following factors:

Too much oil (sebum) filling in sebum conducts when it does not correctly outflow to the exterior. This causes lesions to the cell lining the sebum conducts and your body responds with inflammation.

Skin cells (named epithelial cells) block the pores.

Microbes love to hang out in the excess sebum and clogged pores. This causes inflammation (redness) and pus to appear.

All Acne Blemishes Are Not Created Equal

Doctors have all sorts of scientific-sounding terms to describe the various types of blemishes you get with acne: open and closed comedones ("blackheads" and "whiteheads"), papules and cysts. There are different acne care treatments for the various kinds of acne. Some kinds of acne, specially cysts, can yield significant acne scarring.

Fight Acne Scars with a Natural Acne Care!

There are definitely things you can do to help decrease the amount of pimples you get.

Wash your face twice daily with warm water and a soft soap. No need to scrub-just use your hands. Too much scrubbing can irritate your skin and turn acne worse instead of better.

Keep hair away from your forehead if this is an area where you have acne.

Don't pop those pimples! (Your mother was right about that one.) Squeezing or picking at acne can lead to inflammation and scarring and almost always makes the condition worse.

If you use make-up or facial lotions, make sure they are water-based. Look for the words "non-comedogenic" on the label, or ask the pharmacist.

Sun exposure does NOT benefit acne and it CAN harm your skin.

Bio Acne Care is a new skin care solution that can eliminate moderate acne, cystic acne and acne scars.
